If you are music lover and, at the same time, a web surfer, you have surely heard about social music websites, like Last.FM or Imeem. Those are website where you can listen any track you like for free but that's it. You can only listen to the tracks. You can't download them, for example, for playing them in your home stereo or your car audio system. Fortunately, there is a software that can do that and that's Free Music Zilla. It is basically a program that can intercept music played on most of the social music websites and it's compatible with most web browsers.

The software is not very difficult to install, although a user, especially if he's a beginner, should be careful about selecting the right options, because the installation process offers a lot of checkboxes for installing toolbars or additional software. One should deselect these if doesn't want them into his system.

The interface is extremely simple and features only a Download button and a text displaying the path for saving music files. Even the most inexperienced user can take advantage of this program without any problems. The Preferences window of Free Music Zilla allows setting the path for saving music files, configuring the program to start at Windows Startup or to run minimized. Also, the user can select which browsers he wants the software to monitor. By default, only some of them are supported, but the user can add any other browser by pointing to the executable file of it.

After having configured the software, all the user must do now is open a browser and go to his favorite social music website and start listening to a desired track. At this point, Free Music Zilla will intercept the music video played and it will try to download it on the location set on the hard disk. Every song the user listens to is stored in the program's list and one can choose which one he wants to download.

Music videos will be generally saved as FLV files, because this is the most widely used format for online music videos. Also, music from sites like soundcloud, which include only audio tracks, will be stored as mp3 files.

Pros:
The software can intercept links from the majority of music sharing websites and can save them quickly and easily. Also, it's compatible with most of the web browsers.

Cons:
The quality of the files cannot be modified. Also, music videos cannot be converted into mp3s and can only be saved as FLV files, so the user will have to use a third party utility to convert them to mp3.

Free Music Zilla is a great tool for downloading music from any music sharing website, quickly and easily.
